Cllr Kate Smith
Kate has lived in Crich for over 30 years and has a languages degree. She has two sons in their 30s, and ran the local branch of a major national parenthood charity until 1999. She earlier worked in communication skills training for companies across the UK and Europe and in Japan. She has had various voluntary roles in health.
Kate was a Parish Councillor from 2003 to 2008 (interests included highways, planning and housing), and was re-elected in 2015. She enjoys helping to fix problems for local people. She sings with husband Paul in a church choir and reads widely, especially Jane Austen and anything feminist.
Kate worked at Crich Tramway Village for nearly a decade and greatly enjoyed it. Her favourite tram is Chesterfield 7! Her granddaughter was born in November 2020.
In May 2023 Kate was re-elected to Crich Parish Council and also elected onto Amber Valley Borough Council for the newly-enlarged Ward of Crich and South Wingfield.
